Lead Africa Secretariat is hosted in Dakar, and has the following members of staff:

Sosten CHIOTHA, Regional Programme Director for LEAD Southern and Eastern Africa

Professor Sosten Chiotha is the Regional Programme Director for Leadership for Environment and Development for Southern and Eastern Africa (Lead SEA). Sosten Chiotha has a bachelor of Education from the University of Malawi, a Masters degree in Medical parasitology from London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (UK) and a PhD in Environmental Science from the University of Maryland (USA).

S.S. Chiotha actively participated in the process of drafting Malawi’s National Environmental Action Plan and other environment-related activities. He has served as a member of the African Crop Science Society Governing Council and the International Network for Genetics for Aquaculture (INGA). On the international scene, he has contributed to publications on Research for the Association of African Universities and the American Association for the Advancement of Science.

Dr. Ibrahima SYLLA, LFA Director, Regional Programme Director for LEAD Francophone Africa

SyllaLEAD Francophone Africa (LFA) has a new Director in the person of Dr. Ibrahima SYLLA. He took over LFA in November 2012 from Masse LO who is now the Executive Secretary of ENDA –Third World.

Dr SYLLA is also a Geography Lecturer at the Cheikh Anta Diop University in Dakar- Senegal. He holds a PhD in Geography and Territorial Management from the University of Toulouse Le Mirail in France. He has extensive experience in sustainable development management and joined LFA in 2009 as the ICT4D Project Coordinator.


 







 

Maimo Mary MAH, Communication and Networking Officer

Maimo Mary Mah is the Communication and Networking officer for LEAD Africa and Cohort 11 Fellow from Cameroon. She holds an MA in Journalism and Mass Communication, an MLS in Library and Information Science, a Post Graduate Diploma in Education and a BA in Literature and Languages.  She also militates in different professional associations especially those specialised in engendering development policies, projects and organisations.  Maimo joined LEAD Africa, as a full-time member of staff in 2010.
