WORKSHOP : African Leadership on Climate Change: Challenges and Solutions for African Regional Institutions 22 & 23 January 2009
Hotel Abou Nawas - Tunis

The purpose of the session is to provide a forum for the exploration and exchange of ideas, and to facilitate discussion on leadership and climate change within and through strategic African regional institutions.

Regional institutions have an instrumental role in promoting African ownership of the climate change agenda in Africa. Therefore, the workshop will seek to increase dialogue between African regional institutions and civil society in order to:

Identify the nature of climate change leadership on regional and sub regional levels and how to achieve required capacity levels.

Determine opportunities for further engagement with regional and sub regional partners to ensure climate change being mainstreamed in developments on all levels

Reinforce synergies between strategic partners on regional and sub regional level to ensure essential collaboration between sectors and across national boundaries.
